The main distinctive feature of the Mohare Danda Trek is its commitment to eco-tourism and sustainable adventure tourism. The trek receives its support from community-based lodges, which offer tourists authentic hospitality and local community members benefit from tourism activities.
This trek suits both newcomers and experienced walkers because its moderate ranking does not demand advanced climbing abilities does not need significant adjustment to high elevation. Along the path, visitors encounter a peaceful setting along with wildlife observation opportunities and get to meet kind residents who offer information about local cultural practices.

Accommodation: The trail uses community lodges and eco-lodges that provide twin-sharing rooms with standard bed amenities for travelers. Homesteads in Bans Kharka, Nangi and Mohare Danda let visitors experience authentic village life yet the teahouses in Ghorepani and Ghandruk provide food and rest facilities that include hot showers and charging services for fees. The eco-friendly lodges restrict electricity usage while making shared bathrooms available for visitors at higher mountain altitudes.
Food: The dining options consist of fresh foods that are locally obtained and mostly vegetarian dishes. Traditional food selections at Annapurna Base Camp restaurants include Dal Bhat as well as Tibetan bread and Tibetan porridge and pancakes along with fried noodles and momo. Customers can easily purchase tea coffee and herbal beverages at various locations. The restricted food choices do not diminish the outstanding benefits of welcoming hosts who serve organic foods, providing a fulfilling dining experience.
For the Annapurna Mohare Danda Trek, you will need the following permits:
Both permits can be obtained in Kathmandu or Pokhara from the Nepal Tourism Board or authorized trekking agencies. The cost varies for foreign tourists, SAARC nationals, and Nepali citizens. You will need passport copies and passport-sized photos to obtain them.
Walkers of every skill level can find the Mohare Danda Trek suitable because it holds a rating of moderate difficulty. The trail route includes gentle slopes, which allow passage through woody areas, hillside areas and native settlements. The elevation of Mohare Danda reaches 3,300 meters without exposing trekkers to dangerous altitude sickness risks that are frequent at higher altitudes within the Himalayas.
The typical daily trek duration for visitors amounts to 5-7 hours, while steep slopes appear mostly during the trek from Nangi to Mohare Danda. The trek remains accessible because of the maintained pathways alongside the community accommodations, though these are limited and the climate turns frigid at the mountain peaks. Individuals who prepare by practicing basic trekking skills together with proper physical fitness will enjoy a complete experience.

The trek is considered moderate, and while previous trekking experience helps, it is not necessary. It is suitable for beginners with basic fitness levels.
The best time is during the pre-monsoon (March to May) and post-monsoon (September to November) seasons when the weather is clear and ideal for trekking.
Mohare Danda reaches a maximum altitude of 3,300m, which is not high enough to cause serious altitude sickness. However, it’s important to stay hydrated and acclimatize properly.
The trek is moderate in difficulty, with 5-7 hours of walking per day on well-maintained trails. Some uphill sections are challenging, but it is suitable for trekkers with average fitness.
Accommodation consists of community lodges and eco-lodges that provide simple rooms with basic amenities. Higher altitude lodges may have limited facilities.
The food is mostly vegetarian, including dal bhat, noodles, momo, and Tibetan bread. Meals are fresh and locally sourced, with tea, coffee, and snacks available along the way.
While it’s not mandatory, hiring a guide is recommended for a better trekking experience and navigation. Porters can also be hired to carry your luggage.
You will need the Annapurna Conservation Area Permit (ACAP) and the Trekkers’ Information Management System (TIMS) card, both of which can be obtained in Kathmandu or Pokhara.
Charging facilities are available in most teahouses and lodges, but expect limited availability in higher altitudes, and be prepared for occasional power shortages.
It’s advisable to bring enough Nepali Rupees for the entire trek, as there are limited ATM facilities along the route. Credit cards are accepted in some places.
